A Liminal Practice

Andrea's practice centres around improvisation and the themes of dual nationality and journeys of the nomadic dance artist.

This research has been an ongoing practice for the past few years, starting with Andrea's Independent Project research whilst at Trinity Laban. More recently she has performed a version of this practice at the new movement night Rich Man's Slug, curated by Sunniva Moen Rørvik and held at Bermondsey Project Space.

Internal questioning about why identifying with specific places was important to Andrea and brought up ideas of constantly shifting and fluid identities. To present this research she used structured-improvisation as practice-based research with words that resonated with me becoming the building blocks for physical scores.

Is a 5 minute work derived from my work ‘A Liminal Practice’ and covering themes of Nostalgia, Guilt and Rediscovery.

The soundscore was created from scratch alongside the work. It blends Violin sounds, played by myself, with the sound of recordings from home videos. This can be listened to in its entirety below.
